COSTUMES Workshop 3

I drew and painted this french cafe Bar Owner by using wacom digital tablet and pressure sensitive pen in Photoshop. I used various soft brushes at different opacity levels to create a water colour effect and built up the design using different layers. I used the smudge tool to move/ push the colours around; you also have control over the pressure of this tool.

I finally merged a period photograph of a french cafe into the background, allowing the costume to bleed into the background image.

Note:Drawing costumes using computer technology seems more accessible to designers today than 3D modelling since the software is cheaper and easier to learn. However the main problem is printing the drawings, the colours on the screen is not the same when printed on paper. This will requires the designer to experiment using different types of paper and ink, printing drawing at different resolutions, and maybe adjusting the intensity of colour on the printing ink, the latter can only be done with some printers.
