The Tempest– Corcadorca Theatre Company, Fitzgerald’s Park, Cork, Ireland ¦ Site-specific Theatre ¦ June 2006 ¦
what we did
Set Designer for the outdoor production of Shakespeare’s The Tempest in Fitzgerald’s Park.
Using the natural landscape of the park as the backdrop, Corcadorca created the magical and musical world of Prospero’s spirit-inhabited island. With an elaborate set constructed on the park’s pond, The Tempest was a spectacular and highly atmospheric production, bringing to life the magical and musical world of Prospero’s spirit-inhabited island.
The professional cast of eleven was joined by a band of musicians as well as a community cast who performed original choral music by composer Linda Buckley. Tickets for the show sold out shortly after it opened and over 6,000 saw the production.
And the verdict? Get a ticket wherever you can. The chances are, you’ll see nothing as good this year.

Corcadorca again prove themselves a salient force in Irish theatre

Our revels now are ended. These our actors,
As I foretold you, were all spirits and
Are melted into air, into thin air;
And, like the baseless fabric of this vision,
The cloud-capp’d towers, the gorgeous palaces,
The solemn temples, the great globe itself,
Yea, all which it inherit, shall dissolve,
And, like this insubstantial pageant faded,
Leave not a rack behind. We are such stuff
As dreams are made on: and our little life
Is rounded with a sleep.
